Google: HP Officejet Pro 8600 Screen too bright. Within a few months of owning this printer, the LCD went almost white. Blogs advise turning it off and on again. It doesn't help much and gradually clears up again. After nine months of ownership, the ink started clogging, and it turned out to be a pigmented ink that is said to clog if you don't "use it all the time". After 15 months the paper started to show roller marks, probably due to all the extra cleaning cycles it took to clear the clogged printhead, leaving ink there. Some enterprising people sell a printhead cleaning kit. You must be millionaires. Today, 20 months later, the paper is jammed and even though I pulled it out, the jam message persists. I've tried turning it off and on again and it goes straight to the error message. I followed the instructions on YouTube, inspected with a flashlight, opened the back, front and top, AND THERE IS NO JAM. Some troubleshooting videos/blogs state that one of the plastic gears "breaks frequently" which can cause this message and then this is referred to as a "false paper jam". Others say it could be dust. After all, I just ordered an Epson with a 4-year warranty through SquareTrade. Before this HP I always used Epson and they lasted 2-3 years. I give this model 2 stars instead of 1 because it worked perfectly for 9 months, although the display was too bright and almost unreadable.
