super thick! Nice and long so your hands don't burn. They smell a little like they came off a container ship. And they were made in India. that might explain the smell. It's not bad. It's just palpable. I'm sure they will take on a new smell after a few days in the kitchen. Colors are very dull and muted. I was hoping for a bright looking fish, he looks old. I gave them as a fun gift so the love won't be lost if they don't use them. Too bad. because they would be really cute if the colors were brighter and they didn't fade after .?
