I have tried 3 IPL machines so far, 4 of them, and have also been in the salon for 6 months doing laser hair removal. So I have a pretty good idea of what to expect, what I like and want from an IPL device. The device itself is very nicely packaged and presented. It's a nice little portable device that fits comfortably in your hand and isn't as bulky or clunky as some of the devices I've used. It's a lot more expensive than many IPL devices you can find, but the presentation is very nice. It has a small enough face mount but is also big enough and has a long cord to work with other body parts like legs etc. Now there are some oddities in this device that weren't present in other home IPLs I've used. I think they're trying to simplify it and make it really user friendly or avoid user error as it only offers one level of performance and you can't change it to higher levels or mess around like other devices. It also checks your skin tone in time, which potentially means it adjusts the power to match your own skin tone. So with this device it's a really simple process, you turn it on but plug it in, keep the screen on your sin and you stomp and slide. It's really easy. The output is 4 J/cm2 of energy per flash. It's actually not as high as I expected for this price range, but it still says you'll see hair reduction in just 4 weeks. There are unlimited flashes and no battery is required so you could potentially use this on your entire body if you wish. Also, the lightning speed is faster than other IPLs so it would be quicker to use this device than others if you have many areas to treat. My only issue is that the performance is very poor considering the cost. I spent about $400 for a unit with a flash output of about 16 J/cm2 and felt comfortable paying for more output. This almost $300 device with only 4 joules is a little disappointing. I know it will still remove hair but I think it will last longer than a more powerful device. It says that after 4 weeks the results will be shown so I think he needs to keep testing it and posting the results in time.
