I already have several of these shorter lengths and use them whenever I need a straight line or an accurate measurement. The cork prevents the ruler from slipping off when drawing and the fact that the cork is thin allows the pencil or pen to slide very close to the edge. Nonetheless, I bought this ruler to hide the extra tiles that were removed when I increased the depth of the cabinet. for the gas stove that I installed in place of the electric stove. I removed the plug, cleaned it with acetone and trimmed it to 31 inches to fit the stainless steel trailing edge. The finished product looks very professional. Stainless steel matches the range, I didn't have to stock up on the rest of the range as the ruler is very thin. Certainly better than re-gluing the entire kitchen counter. You don't recognize a carpenter by his good work, but by the way he corrects his mistakes.
