Review on Perky-Pet 1 312 Panorama Small Bird Feeder, Brown, 2 Lbs by Elizabeth Smith

I'm not impressionable, but THIS is a really cool little feeder! very easy to whistle. I've noticed that there have been some complaints that the top is "broken" or that buyers are unable to attach it to the body of the feeder. Most of these statements are not true. To be fair, Perky Pet didn't have instructions on how to attach the top, but come on, it's not advanced math. The top attaches by placing it on top of the case and then pressing the small button while pulling UP the wire hook it hangs on. This will hold the feeder in place and allow it to hang freely without tipping over and spilling the feed. It only took me 30 seconds to figure it out. Here are the pros and cons of this product: ADVANTAGES 1) Easy to assemble and hang. 2) Mostly squirrel proof when hung properly. The only way squirrels can get food is by hitting a hanging wire to spill the food on the ground. But even if they manage to do that, they don't get much and only when the feeding trough is mostly empty. 3) Birds LOVE this thing a lot. 4) Withstands the weather well. The top of the stock has shown little wear from the elements but is still very functional. CONS1) There is some leakage. The less food there is in the tube, the more likely it is to tip over and squirt out. It's still pretty low. 2) The feeder is really only for small birds like finches and cardinals. However, blue jays in our area still gravitate towards this thing fairly regularly. Unfortunately, because jays tend to be large (and messier) birds, they tend to stoop and scatter food more than smaller birds. Again, you can greatly reduce the incline by keeping it full of seeds. As it empties, the leak becomes more noticeable, but still not bad. Bottom line - BUY THIS FEED - it is great value for money and it will look great in your garden and you will be a bird hero around the world.
