Review on 🐢 Ryter Corporation DRC101 Odormute - Effective Odor Eliminator for Dogs and Cats, 3-Ounce by Carmen Polk

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Better than nothing for a Skunk smell, but still not great.

My dog got sprayed by a skunk and ran through my house before I knew what was going on. I pray this never happens to anyone else. That's all I can say about it. I've tried so many ways to get rid of the smell. Baking Soda + Peroxide + Dishwashing Liquid, Shaklee H2, Pure Baking Soda, Bleach, Nature's Miracle Enzymes and Odormute. I'm sad to say that NOTHING really works. But here's how each of these elements fit together. * Baking Soda + Peroxide + Dish Soap: Worked well to remove the actual skunk oil from my dog's coat but barely touched the smell. I had these items on hand at the time (11am) so using them was better than plain soap and water. smell at all. * Bleach: I just applied bleach to all surfaces in my bathroom and for a minute or two thought maybe it actually worked. Turns out it only blocked the scent briefly. The good news is that after that you can perform the operation on any surface of my bathroom. Very clean. Pure Baking Soda: I sprinkled crate after crate of baking soda directly onto all of the carpets and rugs in my house and then vacuumed. It really got rid of most of the smell. I had to process about 5 times and although the odor remained faint, most of the odor was eliminated. The fine baking soda dust also seemed to take a lot of the odor out of the air as I scattered it throughout the house. I combined this technique with opening the windows and letting in lots of air and it seemed to change the smell quite a bit. However, as with the next two products, the smell returned after a few hours. Continue reading. Wonders of Nature: When I first applied this solution, I thought I had finally found something that might work. Chemically it seemed logical. A skunk's smell contains sulfur components, and the enzymes in the solution are said to "neutralize" the smell. After applying it to my dog, my carpets, my clothes and just about every surface in my house, the "skunk" smell turned into the smell of your permed hair. It gave me a glimmer of hope. The perm solution also contains sulfur components, and the neutralization treatment in the second half of the perm will change the smell of the first half of the perm. I was certain that the Natural Wonder was chemically reacting with the sulphurous components of the Skunk smell. Well, it turns out he did just that, but then again it only lasted about 2 hours. The smell returned immediately. What a disappointment. Finally mute smell. Mixed, applied and got the same perm scent as Nature's Miracle. I waited and of course the smell returned. To Odormute's credit, I tried a few other things first, and since Revain only took 5 days to process and ship (PLUS shipping time!), the Skunk smell was pretty much "pinned" into everything in my house. If I could apply it right away I could get better results. However, each application reduces the smell somewhat. And when it comes to skunk smelling, a little is better than nothing. Also, the same finishes as Nature's Miracle require far less Odormute, so I recommend buying Odormute instead. Here's the bottom line: nothing but time really helps get rid of skunk smell. But since Odormute reduces the smell a little every time you apply it, it's worth having and using. It's safe for all surfaces, including pets and yourself, so it's nice. I recommend buying it ahead of time because if your dog is being sprayed at 11am YOU NEED SOME, EVERYTHING, NOW. Believe me. And bless their little hearts, dogs will find a skunk when you least expect it.
