Doesn't work with some flash drives

This USB connector doesn't seem to be as deep as a standard connector. I put 2 Kingston USB sticks in this slot and it didn't work. He didn't go all the way in, leaving part of the silver metal stopper open. This did not happen when the drive was connected directly to the computer. There was no metal to be seen. However, the USB receiver for my mouse worked. So if the device doesn't need to be inserted before the Kingston drive, it can work.
