Review on Philips Automotive Lighting H8 H16 by Tray Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great headlights but not sure about life expectancy

I was a little hesitant to buy these as I couldn't find much information or feedback on this new generation Ultinon Essential. Not much has been said about "no errors" or CANBUS, except that you may need a CANBUS adapter if you get a bar error or flicker. The price at Revain was great compared to other retailers and the return was free so I decided to give it a try. years in generation b8.5. It was very easy to install. There is no need to remove the fog lamp housing, the covers around the fog lamp or the bumper. Just spin the wheels and access the lightbulb from the wheel arch. I just loosened 2 screws so I could move the corner of the screen. It has a Torx style screw head, but if you don't have one you can probably use a narrow flat head (I have). Remember that the orientation of the plug is important when connecting to the light bulb. If your dashboard light is on or the fog lights don't come on, simply unplug and rotate the connection 180 degrees. Once properly connected, you should not get any error messages and do not need a CANBUS adapter. The light is definitely brighter than on a tripod and is a nice pure white color. They are whiter than the headlights and definitely whiter than the stock fog lights. It was very profitable for the price I bought them at the time. Hope prices don't go up. I'm a little concerned that the bulbs are only rated for 1500 hours. Maybe it's just talk, but I see other LED fog lights claiming 20,000 to 50,000 hours. I think if they run out too fast I'll update my review but so far they're great.
