I've been thinking about the idea of putting a heatsink in to help my Samsung 970 evo. Not that it's really necessary, but lower temperatures mean less chance of throttling and durability. However, it was extremely easy to install as I watched several YouTube videos on how to do it. Hence why I deducted a full star, there were no instructions. The first step was to remove the sticker/thermal pad from any top of the m.2. Then, after using the provided alcohol pad and dry cloth, wipe and dry the surface. Step two was to attach the new thermal pad and heatsink I chose for the rubber bands. I've seen some reports and concerns that metal clips can short out components, which is a risk I didn't want to take. I ran some Crystalmarkdisk tests and found the following: 40°C 2nd run with heatsink: 52°C 9 degrees Celsius difference. After installing the heatsink, the idle temperature seems to be 1-2 degrees higher, but under load the temperature has dropped and I'm happy with the results. For one of the more frugal solutions, I have some reasonable perks, such as: B. lower temperatures. My main complaint is that they provide some instructions/better instructions to help those who want to try this mod! Hope that helps!
