I also had a LaCrosse Technology atomic clock with an outside temperature sensor. This worked well for ten years; During this time I changed the outdoor sensor twice. The clock was completely broken so I replaced it with this one. This new one showed the outside temperature within seconds of inserting the batteries into the remote, unlike the old one, which took several hours to pick up a signal. The new watch didn't sync the time right away so I set it to the minute and it was accurate to the second when I checked the next day. The controls for setting the time are a huge improvement over the old clocks; It's very easy to set up. So far I am very happy with my choice of this watch and the price is right!
