I have a plant stand that I use it on because it's winter in the Midwest and I can't provide my plants with airflow like this during the warmer months. Some soil surfaces were crusty or too wet and needed little air movement. It's not a powerful fan at all. What do you expect. That's not much. Works on battery power. The first speed is definitely a whisper. I use the second speed for my plants. It's definitely a light breeze. The third speed would be too much, but if you use it for cooling it would be ideal. I think it's relatively quiet. But people have different ideas about it. As for battery life, what do you expect again. That is not much. He won't be able to hold the charge for that long. However, I will say that sometimes I forget to turn it off at night and it still works the next morning. As for charging, it takes forever to charge. I would say somewhere between 5-8 hours. I just know it's been a while. The indicator turns green when it is charged.
