I bought both this Manfrotto MM394 and Dolica WT-1003 to compare because both are great monopods based on the reviews but I wanted to make sure I made the right decision before I decide for German a monopod and another back. Manfrotto MM394 ($23.95) Merchandise: Supports up to 9.92 pounds Manfrotto is well known for its excellent product quality. ) The ground contact feet are plastic and have no retractable steel spikes. Dolica WT-1003 ($16.42) Goods: This gives you an extra 7 inches (67 inches compared to Manfrotto's 60.04 inches) Non-slip rubber foot with retractable metal studded feet Bad: It only handles weights up to 6.7 pounds. The strap is a thin piece of fabric as opposed to Manfrotto's strong and thick fabric. Bottom line: I ultimately decided to keep this one and brought back the Dolica mainly for its much better weight support. I have a Nikon D800 and a Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 OS, so a monopod that can handle the weight and still have enough space makes it a winner. I'm a hobbyist, so I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a monopod that I wouldn't use often. For the price and what it offers, this is definitely a winner.
