but it happens to even the best companies

I bought this product but it turned out to be defective. When I initialized the drive and then tried to install an operating system on it. I was shocked when I received a warning that there was not enough free disk space to install this software. The hard drive showed only 259 MB free space! I have no idea how this is possible, but does this happen to even the best companies? I know LaCie makes very good drives because I have two 2TB Lacie hard drives that I've been using as Time Machine backups for about 6 years. Years. Both still work great, although I accidentally knocked one of them off the top of the workstation while it was running (dropped about 4ft), which is usually a death sentence for a hard drive, but it's been over a year and it's working still flawless. I also have a couple of old LaCie HDs that still work great although they don't have that much storage (40GB) which was a lot of room when I bought them over 12 years ago. return. I use them as portable drives from time to time. The problem was fixed quickly and within a few days I received a new drive that had 4TB of free space and was working great. I'd love to write about the great customer service I experienced in resolving this issue, but the comment rules were that you can't talk about the sellers. Don't be afraid to buy a LaCie hard drive because of this incident. I'm still giving it 5 stars because the new one works great, I know the quality of the LaCie discs and how quick and easy the swap was. I can't confirm the longevity of this drive yet but if it works half as well as any other LaCie drive I have and I expect it to still work in 4 or 5 years. I'll update this review later when it's been running for a while.
