I needed a very flat monitor stand to mount my monitor under my kitchen cabinet over the counter and this was the perfect solution. The base is basically the thickness of a solid sheet of metal, so it adds little to the overall height of the monitor when standing. This stand is solid and doesn't slide on any of the pivot points, which was also part of my needs. Finally, if you want to use it in a more portable way, it folds almost flat against the back of the monitor for portability.
