We just experienced the worst winter storm in human history here in Austin, Texas. Actually it's not over yet. In many areas there is still no electricity. And they still arrange "rolling blackouts" even in our area. One of the things we really depended on, no electricity, no cell service, no internet, no NOTHING, was this NOAA AM FM radio that could be charged either manually or with a solar panel. To be honest I have THREE of them. One in my truck, her car, and here at home. Some might say I'm a restless wart. But I say it's better to have than to need. This one from the YEZRO store figured it out in a minute. He's a little different from the others. But, once I finally have it, it's really easy to work with. A flashlight is bright enough to light your way through a dark house. (Don't expect it to light your way down the long, dark country road.) Alarm is the funniest thing in the world. (Actually, I laughed.) The tuning knob is STRAIGHT on a very small tuner. Therefore, you must move SLOWLY while scrolling through the area to get the best signal. The speaker is a bit small and has a tinny sound. It features an LED battery level indicator that subtly lets you know when it's time to charge. The range switcher works very well, as does the volume control. You should know that a telescopic antenna is another way to get the strongest signal from your chosen station. Radio signals travel up and down the antenna in a "signal wave". not just towards the end. So after you've done your best with the tuning knob, you can increase or decrease the length of the radial (as well as change the angle) to refine it even further. This radio is NOT waterproof. So stay away from the rain. The ability to play music from an SD card or flash drive is a nice feature. But with an "emergency" radio I find it pointless. I know I disassembled it quite a bit. But when I look at the main function of this radio and how well it has served me through this winter storm, I have nothing but praise for it. It did a wonderful job. Especially considering the small investment I put into it. I'm glad I have it. And now it's back in its box and in my closet until the next storm. It gives me a sense of security just knowing it's there. Five stars. You can increase or decrease the length of the radial (and change the angle as well) to fine-tune it.
