This is my favorite knife sharpener

I have been using this type of manual knife sharpener for almost 15 years. I only bought this after the whetstone on the previous one was almost down to the plastic frame after 5 years of use. You can hold it while sharpening or place it on the countertop. I suggest that you put a towel underneath as the dust generated from sharpening at the contact points can scratch the countertop. Fast and easy to use, it always sharpens knives or scissors perfectly. I have used a whetstone to sharpen linoleum knives with great success.
