I used these when rewiring a boat trailer with tandem axle. They are probably designed to mount to a 1/8" thick frame rail. My trailer is 3/16" thick so a lot of these broke when I tried to mount them to the frame. That's why I think not that they will work very well on a car or truck frame. There were many in the package so I was able to get the job done but many of them broke in the process. They are a lot cheaper than heavier clamps if you so if you're on a budget this might work, just buy more than you think you need and agree on a breakdown.
