This was a last minute purchase for a trip with our dog. He usually owns the entire rear of the SUV (with the seats folded down). For this trip we needed space behind the rear seats to store our luggage etc. This meant that Toby only had access to the rear seats themselves (with the backrest vertical). This is a fairly new car and we were concerned about the condition of the leather seats after driving. Installation was very easy (less than 5 minutes). It worked better than we expected. He protected the seats, which was initially a priority, but did a lot more than that. We put a blanket over the seat cover and our dog had enough space to stretch out and chew on the toys we gave her. With this seat cover, we didn't have to worry about chew toy mess. Thanks to its design, this cover hangs on the front seat and prevents the dog from sliding onto the floor when you need to brake quickly. It was a pleasant surprise. The highlight of this seat cover is the mesh window. This served two purposes. Air conditioning vents are located behind the center console, cooling the rear seat. Without a mesh window, they wouldn't keep your dog cool on a long trip through the Texas heat. Toby had plenty of cool air throughout the ride. It also served to make it easy to check while driving (it would be difficult for the driver to overlook). It also allowed him to constantly see us in the front seat, even when he was lying down. He's young and doesn't like being alone, so he was comfortable. At the end of the trip we were actually able to fold it up and put it back into the included storage bag - ready for our next trip! I would definitely recommend this if you're looking to extend the life of your seats while traveling with your dog.
