We bought this pet door to fit in the wall of our house built last summer. Everything was going well until recently. Both flaps are primarily made of translucent silicone. Magnets on the bottom of the doors help keep the doors closed when not in use. There is a metal clip on the underside of the wing that clamps the magnets inside. The metal bracket itself is attached to the door with holes in the metal bracket that go through the tabs on the flexible door. Unfortunately, the internal valve no longer holds properly. My first indication that something was wrong was when my dog had a cut over one eye. The metal clip partially worked loose, causing my dog to bump into the sharp edge of the metal every time he tried to get in and out. I cleaned the area and moved the magnets and metal clip onto the two pieces of silicone that make up the inner valve. I checked my paperwork and found that the pet door comes with a 15 year warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. I called the company today during business hours and was immediately put through to a voicemail box. The message they played says they will call me back within 24 hours. I hope they do the right thing with me by taking my call and helping me get a replacement flap that won't hurt my pets. I will update this review with the results. The door was not damaged in an accident, it was properly installed and not mistreated. The damage done is not what I would describe as 'normal wear and tear', especially on a door that has no other defects and is warranted for this length of time.
