I have had a Panasonic drop and water resistant phone for about a year and it has not lived up to my expectations from start to finish. The phone would occasionally lose contact with the base and turn into a brick. If dropped, the phone will turn itself off and lose contact with the base station until it resets for a few minutes. I thought it was just me, but my mom has the same phone and suffers from the same issues. Upon inspection, this phone struck me as a good choice, and after a few days of use, I'm sure it was a good choice. . The phone is much sturdier, more durable and more robust than its Panasonic counterpart. They really can't be compared. Panasonic just took their regular phone and added some rubber, this phone is surrounded by rubber and plastic armor. The battery cover is screwed down and clearly visible from anywhere, which is nice. The sound quality from this phone was better than my other regular non-waterproof DECT 6.0 phones, which I wasn't expecting. This is the best sound quality I've personally had from all three DECT phones I've owned. However, Uniden has always been known for its good sound quality, so I don't think it should come as a shock. However, when you go for longevity you usually sacrifice sound quality, so I wasn't prepared for the improved sound quality. The only issue I have with this phone is that the belt clip looks like it might break if dropped. I would have preferred to see some sort of reinforced rubber clip rather than a plastic clip, but I haven't seen any other phone with it. Set up is easy if you have one tube, with two you really have to crack the instructions. Management. It's a simple process, but not intuitive. This is my only minor complaint about the setup, but Uniden made up for it by providing interchangeability between the base tube and the additional tube. Each handset can be charged either in the base station or in the optional charging station without registration or adjustment problems. The phones are identical, which is exactly what I expected from a reliable DECT 6.0 phone. You won't find any frills on the base station, but the phone itself has all the features you'd expect from a new DECT 6.0 phone. If you need a rugged DECT 6.0 phone look no further, you won't find anything better on the market.
