Review on 🧹 Sanitaire SC899 Tradition QuietClean: Ultimate Performance in an Upright Vacuum by Michael Miner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's a vacuum cleaner workhorse NOT MADE IN CHINA

When I took it out of the box I was quite impressed with the overall look and solid construction of this 'no frills' vacuum. This is obviously intended for intensive commercial use, such as by cleaners in hotels and motels. Also for other commercial tasks such as cleaning office buildings etc. And of course the same options in the living environment. area in less time. It's fairly light when it's on the ground and glides easily over hard surfaces. Although it weighs 22 pounds, it's not the lightest to actually get airborne if you have to carry it by hand (i.e. up). stairs, etc.). But that's not why I'm discussing this vacuum cleaner, because the most important thing is how it works on the floor and performs its suction functions. On surface floors, many vacuums that don't disable the rotating hard surface brush head tend to push debris out of the vacuum as the brushes eject debris before the suction can actually grab it. because the suction power is so strong that you don't miss a thing when walking across the floor. And it rolls absolutely effortlessly on hard surfaces. However, with carpet it is a different matter where you need to adjust the depth of the brush head to match the pile depth of your carpet. I have a short to medium pile carpet and started with the nozzle on the lowest ("1") position. Combined with the suction power and such a low setting, it was very difficult to push and pull the vacuum, which isn't a bad thing. All you have to do is raise your head as needed to keep the rotating brushes from digging into the carpet and creating a lot of drag. You want the rotator to shake the carpet enough not only to loosen dirt, but also to fluff or lift the carpet pile to reduce wear and tear in the high-traffic areas of your home or business. Although most commercial spaces are likely to have carpets with a very tight weave and a low carpet pile height. So when I raised the brush head to position 2 or 3, the cleaner was much easier to push/pull while shaking the carpet just enough to clean and update the pile height. I had large circulation areas in some rooms, for example the entrance to the master bedroom, where the short pile gets tangled and noticeably "tired". I decided to vacuum these driveways on the lowest setting to really "spruce up" the carpet, keeping it rejuvenated and not looking worn. I had to make some effort to get the vacuum down to its lowest position, but I didn't mind considering my purpose. Assembly was quick and easy. Inserting a screw into the base to connect the lower shaft to the vacuum head and a second screw halfway to connect the upper shaft to the lower shaft. The hardest part was snapping the cable retention hooks over the top and bottom stems. There are slots on opposite sides of the stock that you need to press fairly hard to bend the strut just enough to snap into the slots on either side of the stock. These top and bottom mounts have cable grooves that the cable must pass through before you snap the mount hooks into place. The easiest way to snap them into place is to align the tabs on the brackets vertically with the locking holes on opposite sides of the shaft and simply push with your hand to squeeze the bracket and shaft together and the brackets will snap into place properly. in place. One thing about cable retention hooks is that in my opinion they need to be a little deeper (longer) to hold the full 50 feet of cable. The line fits, but it tests the limits of the hooks without going beyond the hook range to hold them. I was initially put off by the length of the cord, but once I started vacuuming I was pleased that I could connect multiple rooms from a centrally selected outlet, rather than having to unplug and go to a different outlet in each room . As I walked, I unwound just enough cord from its hooks to pull enough power cord through to get the job done. As shown below, all maintenance work can be carried out without tools. In the close-up you can see two latches rotating to unlock the chrome metal cover on the brush assembly and motor housing. That way, if something gets clogged, you can just flip the vacuum head over, twist the two locking tabs to open the housing cover, and remove whatever is in the inlet motor turbine fins, or cut something like that with scissors. like hair wrapping around rotating brush heads. Thoughtful design to keep the device running with minimal maintenance. The third image just shows the wipe path on the carpet where I actually ruffled the carpet fibers on a low setting. With a very high capacity vacuum bag, you don't have to go to the bin after every room you vacuum to empty small canister vacuums like the Dyson and many others that don't pick up a lot of dirt before they need to be emptied. This runs for a very long time before it needs to be emptied. To do this, simply detach the bottom of the case from the base of the device by twisting the metal hook to unlock it. Then loosen the spring at the top of the bag, take it to the bin and just shake all the rubbish out of the bag, which has a pretty decent oval hole at the bottom of the bag. I give this vacuum cleaner high marks for utility, simplicity, ease of use and suction power. This is a very powerful unit that will last a lifetime. And it's made in Mexico, not China. This is important for me. I'm tired of seeing everything come out of this evil empire.
