I had these lanterns hanging outside. The onions are very small (maybe an inch in diameter) but still looked very cute. The light was dim though, so if you need them for some real lighting I wouldn't recommend them. They also started breaking right away. A few lightbulbs went out over the course of a few days, and a small thunderstorm created enough wind to blow them completely apart. The wires broke in several places, and at least a dozen lightbulbs fell off, rendering them unusable. If you plan on hanging them somewhere that you don't need actual lighting, they're probably fine. But I wouldn't recommend using them outdoors, in dark places, or places where they can wear out. I want to return it now, but my return period has expired.
