You can rip or cut them, they come in almost any width, although we prefer narrower ones. We make greeting cards out of it, my mother-in-law and I. We have used carpet tape before but it makes our scissors sticky even when using non stick Fiscars scissors. Also, you only have one size. The thing is great, it doesn't glue our scissors together and if we want we can tear it although it's not quite our style, moreover it's not as precise as cutting. We can also get it in a very narrow width, making it great for attaching ribbons to postcards and little dads. Because we make things in advance, it can take months to use.
