When your kids start walking, they need to feel the ground, so hard-soled shoes won't fit (they don't need arch support!). They worked great for my early walker to protect his legs. He won't even walk in hard-soled shoes, but they're easy to put on and don't bother him at all, because they're very flexible and thin (but thick enough to protect from trifles). didn't worry me. He is a size 5 and has worn 6-12 months and they fit great, there is still room to grow! Definitely recommend.
