Hot cord but fits 6qt Instant Pot Ultra

Cord fits my pot size but when I start a cook cycle the cord gets very hot. Heating the pot must require more electricity because after the pot has been heated and boiled, the cord will cool down and stop heating up. I cooked in the pressure cooker on high power for an hour and only the first 20 minutes of use heated the cord. I intend to continue using the cable, but I will not leave it unattended.
