I used to use a daisy chain set of dongles to connect new Macs to my lovely old Apple 30 " Get Cinema to work with the correct resolution: Mac --> USB-C to Mini DP --> Mini DP to Dual DVI Link --> Monitor. It worked fine for a while, but eventually the adapter in the middle stopped working. Then I saw this, read about the trick to get the Mac to use the correct resolution, and bought this. This works very well, but red and green flickering artifacts *sometimes* appear when darker images are displayed on screen. It looks fantastic with brighter images. I've attached a video showing the problem.
