Just in case insurance. like :)

This item is really hard to review because you don't use it until you need it. Then when you need it, you really need it! We have 2 All American Canners models 941 and 910. We do a lot of canning in the summer and the 941 does any canning job in a snap! The problem with the 941 is its size and weight. Get a 19 liter canister immediately! Too big and heavy with all those cans, and besides, not to mention how high it sits on our stove, you can't see or put the cans in without a step stool. We use it outside on a propane burner that is well underground, like a turkey roast burner. Keeps the kitchen nice and cool when we're outside. We use the much smaller 910 for smaller interior jobs. It is perfect for 4 liter jars. My wife and I both bought them with money we received as wedding gifts 15 years ago. Money well invested! We've never had the slightest problem with a cannery! I just thought after 15 years it's time to replace the extra plug we originally bought with the cans (and don't need them). The original plugs still work great, never had a problem! I would like to share our personal experience with anyone purchasing a new All American autoclave. Both of our canning plants needed a break-in period to get the metal-to-metal seal working properly! With water alone, it took about 5-10 applications for the seal to actually work! Bring the tin can up to 15 pounds. pressure for 1 hour. and let the glass cool down. After 5-10 times lift up and cook for an hour and then cool. The print is perfect! We called the factory because initially the seal on both cans leaked really badly, even when we used petroleum jelly as recommended in the instruction manual. This procedure was suggested to us by a very nice and helpful employee at All American. He also suggested using just a very light/light coat of olive oil on the print! He said that 99% of people use too much petroleum jelly to begin with, which I'm sure we did too. Yes removing the lid was a problem the first few times but never as we use a very thin layer of olive oil with each use! Both devices are sealed and have been working great for 15 years! We never had to worry about replacing those stupid pads! OR that fork knocks on wood!
