We love all the reflective detailing on this jacket. The fleece inside is warm, but it's not a thick coat, so I bought extra fleece with a zip to line the jacket for extra warmth. So far this jacket has proven to be waterproof as my son is nice and dry inside. The kindergarten asked her to have two sets of everything. They run every day, whatever the weather, and while we love his Columbia winter coat, we just didn't buy two! So the price is great for this waterproof windbreaker as a second coat to keep your kids warm and dry. In terms of sizing, I think going up in size is always a good idea. My little one turned 4 in August and we bought a size 5. She is perfect; There is enough room in the sleeves for a small height but not too big.
