It's not very loud, but since you're wearing an alarm base, it's not necessary unless you're a heavy sleeper. If you're a good sleeper, rely on it only during your waking hours and invest aloud in naps or daytime naps. You can also turn off the alarm at the base as my son found out the alarm means I go outside. And he thinks it's time to buy toys lol so if I just have to take out the trash I turn it off until I get back in.
