This is a good bed for the price. The mattress isn't as soft as I would like my puppies to be, but it's enough. My little ones. I think a big dog would have left an imprint on the mattress which would have softened over time. I always put a pillowcase on my dog bed like a sheet that doesn't need to be tucked in or pinned down. You lie on it and it keeps the bed clean. I can then - after a day or so - replace the pillowcase so they always have clean "sheets" and never have to struggle with zippers to wash the covers. Definitely recommend this bed. Yes, the zippers are plastic only and you need to be careful with them. But the bed was only about $40. I have multiple pet beds throughout the house. Some in the bedroom like to move from bed to bed at night. they turn. I think they're getting tough, just like us. ;)
