Glad I learned how to connect my new Macbook Pro (with four Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports) more directly than via HDMI to my LCD monitor to connect one of these USB hubs. The cable does not heat up and transfers adequately to my LCD monitor. The only personal observation I would like to share on this is that for some reason it only works with 3 out of 4 Thunderbolt3/ USB-C ports my macbook works. It consistently won't accept video from a specific port on my laptop. Neither Apple reps nor I understand why, but I breathed a sigh of relief to learn that none of my Macbook ports have this Problem is., which I subsequently tested ALL in the Apple Store (for video and USB storage/data) after making sure there were no faulty hardware/connectors on my Macbook I still like using this cable for my desktop monitor.
