I installed it on the driver's seat of my 2018 Tacoma and just removed the strap that would block the airbag. Even with the strap loosened, the lid stays in place. Overall the quality is good and I used large bags to secure the inverter, cleaning cloths and various other items just floating around the cockpit. It's good to organize rather than wondering where something went when I'm looking in the dark or whatever. I'm the only one in this cabin with access and although the gear gets in the passenger's way when seated behind the seat it's not a problem and of course I can always pull it out if I need that space. I do not regret this purchase at this price and yes it looks pretty bad.
