I am using DD-WRT firmware with this device. If all you need is plug-n-go, this works great. I've been using dd-wrt since it was first introduced when it only worked on a router. I had to make some rules for the kids to keep them from playing video games all day, which meant I had to update the firmware on my old router. I kinda bricked it up so I bought this one. As a wireless router, the functionality is pretty good and a bit faster than my old router. But I still can't run the rules on a schedule. When I set a rule to disable certain ports or websites at certain times of the day, they don't re-enable correctly. I could certainly write everything down, but it shouldn't be that difficult and I don't have time for any of that. I've heard the Buffalo firmware works better, but I took the time to download it and reconfigure everything. My house has a Category 5 wired connection, so I use a wired connection from my office and have found that I actually get better internet performance over a wireless network than I do with a wired connection. I can support 40-50 Mbps wireless but only 25-30 wired. I can not understand. The AirStation sits between my network and the Xfinity cable modem and we have 75 Mbps service.
