We have the Dyson DC07. It ages and the plastic became more brittle over time and this part broke. After getting a replacement and watching a video about the U-Tube, we decided to just buy a new vacuum. When I wanted to return the part, they charged me $7.50 to return the $28 part. So I decided to give it a try. It was very difficult to replace the part. I had all the tools for the job including a dynamometer drive. If you don't have any experience with mechanics, I would recommend not doing this. You disassembled a good vacuum cleaner, belt clutch included. to replace a part.
