This turntable is very affordable and I recommend it to collectors who are just getting into the hobby and don't want to spend a lot. I haven't had any issues with it so far and it's been a great upgrade for the little suitcase player I started with. CANNOT buy player separately to listen to recordings. You *have* to buy a pair of speakers. If the speakers are passive (not active), you will also need to purchase an amplifier and speaker wire. The ATLP60 comes with one of the cables you need for the speakers, but other than that you have to buy other things separately. I had to do a lot of research to figure this out, for some reason it's one of those things nobody tells you about. Luckily I had a friend who also collects vinyl and helped me sort things out and buy the parts I needed. I hope this helps anyone interested in buying their first record system.
