I purchased this item because I didn't want to use a textured screen protector on my iPad, but I needed some friction with the tip of an apple pencil. I don't have a steady hand and drawing on an iPad can be frustrating due to the screen's slick texture, and I don't like the idea of a textured screen eating up my tip, so it's a pretty good alternative to that. I've been using this for a while and haven't had to change the lid and it doesn't have a hole unlike some other reviewers. When you put the cap on, make sure it fits snugly at the tip, otherwise you'll find your lines become wavy. For context, I draw weekly with my Apple Pencil and use a screen protector.
