First I have to say that the lamp works well. The choice is yours: spend $40 and take it apart and install the bulb, or spend $80 and just remove the sled with the bulb inside. Going the $40 route was easy and I would go that route again to save dollars. The only difference I notice is that the lamp reaches full brightness in about 10-15 seconds. That's not a problem, just an observation. I don't recall the original taking time to warm up. As it took a while I started playing around with the brightness and found that the lamp needed to get warm.
