The sound is generally satisfactory, however the highs might use some work. If you listen closely enough on the street, you'll notice that the low ones aren't straining or tambourining. If you're trying to get some work done while listening to music in silence, the bass can be a touch much. In any case, JBL deserves some credit because the headphones come with an equalization that can be customized using the company's own proprietary software and then promptly forgotten. By dialing back the bass and turning up the treble, I was able to create a smoother, more balanced sound (I mostly listen to classic rock and calm electronics). The vocals are crystal clear when listening with headphones. The Sony CH-510 and the Marshall Major III are two options. The high ones work fine, while the lesser ones have a minor flaw that doesn't affect the overall experience. The sibilants are excessively loud and blocked out the second group entirely. JBL is on par with Sony in my opinion, but there is a slight deficiency in high frequencies (albeit this is hardly a deal breaker). Compatible with a plethora of gadgets at once. We support the SBC and AAC codecs. Acceptable noise reduction eliminates low-frequency noises like traffic noise and other rumbles but does not entirely silence speech or conversations. There is an obstruction with the noise cancellation feature; it activates automatically whenever the headphones are used. You must double-click the noise reduction button to disable it. There should be some way to either restore the prior state or to set a default value in the application. When I take off my headphones, the music automatically pauses. There are zero issues with either the phone or Windows' Music player. Until, of course, he had to adjust the headphones on his head a few times and the pause button had been activated. I've left this feature active for the time being. The folding mechanism is top-notch, with a twist for neck carry and folding cups for stowing in a backpack. The internal arms are made of metal, giving the chair a sense of dependability. They should fit snugly on the head without any pressing. The synthetic cloth used to make the headband is also the material of choice. Ear pads are a lovely leatherette, but they're glued on (unlike the Sony CH-510, where the ear pads can be easily removed and replaced). Overall, I'm quite pleased with my purchase and anticipate many years of use.
