Much thinner which I think is better and better made than standard paper filters. There are claims here that it helps with MPG so we'll see if it helps my turbodiesel with that, got 36 on the paper filter. I have a 2011 Jetta TDI that seems to be choking at low rpm, I think you can to say. I drove a bit after installation and it seemed to get better, choking didn't seem to occur but turbo lag still reigns, I mean you want to be stuck in traffic after stopping at traffic lights but the car just wants to roll slowly. So you give it a little more gas and it's more than you wanted and you shoot lol I know you can give it a little gas and it really works that way it's just that it kicks you sometimes. FYI, it comes pre-lubricated from the factory. , Just plug and play, easy installation only requires a Torx 25 bit to loosen the filter cover screws (8 screws need to loosen). I'll probably go back and update my MPG to see if it tops 36 combined.
