There are products that can be improved, but if you look at what's on the market you'll see that nobody has improved them longer than you've been alive. That's it. It's not perfect, but it works quite well. Nobody has done it better and it will probably take longer than you. Someone in my family has as long as I can remember, and I bet it wasn't new at the time. It's not super accurate, you turn it on after 10 and roll it back for a shorter amount of time or it won't ring, but it keeps going exactly as it is now.
