I used the copper tape to line the cavities for my pickups to prevent hum on the amplifiers. I used it to tape the cavity and connect all the cavities together with the tape or with a wire. The tape can overlap because the tape glue conducts electricity. I taped the bottom of the pick guards and put the guitar back together. The hum was reduced substantially. Examples of how to do this are on the internet. I recommend doing this to any guitars with a hum which is associated with single coil pickups. I did this with my squire telecasters and Stratocaster. I also covered the bottom of my electronics cavity on my Epiphone Les Paul Special II. Improved them all.
