Review on πŸ”₯ 6P Outlet FIRECOP: Innovative Fire Extinguisher Concept - Safeguarding Power Strips & Outlets from Fires by Broderick Shetler

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Wide variations in patch thickness, not sure what the minimum should be for the stated power

I like their concept - the heat source causes them to release an inert (flame quenching) gas. However, I had some problems. From a small plastic bag it was clear that the whole map was thick. I measured all six with calipers and got the following readings: 0.71mm, 0.90mm, 0.91mm, 1.17mm, 1.24mm, 1.79mm. That's over 100% difference from the thinnest to the thickest. This got me thinking about what the minimum thickness should be to get the advertised performance. When considering this product from an electrical safety standpoint, adding a small amount of inerting compound to the outlet is not a substitute for proper inspection and maintenance. . If you have a damaged or worn plug, replace it (or replace it if you are unwell or untrained in how to do it) and regularly check outlets and cords for wear, breaks, and damage, especially if you have children. or pets. There's no guarantee that a few seconds of extra time before a sustained blaze occurs in your outlet will actually save you, especially if your circuit breaker or surge protector isn't doing its job. I would save you that. This is a deceptive feeling of security, especially with the different product thicknesses. Maybe with the right consistency, more documentation, and actual testing of this particular product configuration, I'll feel better. I think I'll leave them behind for science experiments.
