I've owned this mic for over a year and it's one of my favorite mics for boom work. It didn't work well as an on-camera mic due to its size, but as a boom mic it works great for me. The microphone can be a bit sensitive as it can pick up cable noise if the cables are not tight. . This mic doesn't pick up much bass either, but I use it for dialogue, not music, so I'm happy with the results. The microphone is powered by one AA battery, not phantom power. There are also certain 1/4" XLR connectors that will not work with this unit. It's best to use either a straight XLR cable or the included 1/4" to XLR cable. I used a 1/4" to XLR cable from a radio store and my recorder was able to get the signal do not record. Be sure to buy a good dead cat if this mic is to be used for outdoor interviews. It picks up a lot of wind noise. Once you realize the limitations, you can still create quality content with this mic.
