Review on ๐Ÿšฒ SHIMANO PD-M530 MTB Pedals by Jeff Jackson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for beginners

I bought these pedals a while ago but didn't immediately mount them on my bike. I've never used clipless pedals and was concerned that if I didn't release my foot in time I would become clumsy starting and roll over. I finally switched pedals a few weeks ago to get some practice. and then go back to my old commuter toe clips until I'm comfortable with the new system. i was too worried They're very easy to snap in and out โ€“ in fact, my foot usually snaps on its own on the first strike or two when starting from a stop, before I even start thinking about it. The pedals have clamps on either side, so getting up and running requires very little fiddling. Although I practice releasing a leg long before quitting, it's very easy to release even in a hurry. I'm not a rider, I'm a hard working grey-bearded commuter, but I really like these pedals. Even for people like me there is a real difference. A word of advice for those installing spikes in SPD shoes: my shoes came with stickers to put under the insole to keep water out. Do not attach these stickers until you have driven a few kilometers. Once it's there, it's difficult to adjust the tip. I ended up cutting off one of the stickers to change the position of the tip. If you've been thinking about switching to clipless pedals, this is a good choice. Edit to add four years later: after thousands of miles I still have no complaints. about these pedals. Came back here to order a second pair for my new very trendy bike.
