John John from Canada complained about creating a clone with this enclosure but it didn't start. Cloning a drive to an external USB drive does not automatically make it bootable. However, there is software available (https://www.easyuefi.com/wintousb/index.html) "Widows to Go" that creates a bootable external hard drive that can be used on any computer to boot Windows. That's why I bought this drive, as well as the ability to boot not only from a USB port, but also from a USB-C port. If you are a techie this will be really useful, or as a regular user you can still boot from it if you have hard drive failure or any number of other reasons. I bought this external hard drive because ASUS makes great products. I also bought a Sabrent case (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K4TCKVL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) but I prefer ASUS because it comes with two cables for each connector type rather than a converter cable, and I don't think the Sabrent can match ASUS in terms of throughput, but both are about the same.
