No sharp edges, blade rotates to desired position. It scrolls forward or backward. Carrots are cut into very thin slices. This is the first scrub of this type that I have used. It's a bit inconvenient because I don't like pulling sharp objects towards me. This is not a complaint, just a personal preference. It is easy to pull off by hand. It feels comfortable and is not slippery. Since it's made of stainless steel, it shouldn't rust. The blade is very shiny.
