Heats up quickly, easy to use

Magviila Straightener came nicely packaged in a sturdy cardboard box with magnetic closure. The set includes a straightener, a velvet drawstring carry case and a wide-toothed plastic comb that comes in a separate pouch. I've been using Chi straighteners for many years, so for me everything new has to meet the standards set by Chi. . I found the Magviila straightener to be good for straightening my thick naturally frizzy hair, but my hair didn't feel as straight as it did with the Chi. The rectifier control is located inside between the two tension arms. To turn it on, just press and hold the power button for a few seconds. There is an easy to read display that shows whether the rectifier is on or off. Two other buttons regulate the temperature, adjustable from 120°C to 230°C. It heats up very quickly. The rectifier makes a slight hum when plugged in, even when it's off. It also smells hot. I've used it several times, the smell is still there but maybe over time it will go away? The heater plates are about 1/2" longer and 1/4" wider than on my Chi. He held my hair as he was pinched. I noticed that my fingers got hot a few times during use. This is mostly user error as it doesn't get warm under the hot plates, but I think it would be more natural or comfortable for me to hold it higher, hence the hot fingers. I have to teach myself to hold it differently. I've never owned a straightener with a brush head, so to be honest I wasn't quite sure what to do with it. I've found this works well when you want to curl the ends of your hair a bit. It also helped with the bumps I sometimes get close to my head when I can't get the straightener close enough. (My curls start at the head). If I smoothed out these bumps, I could eliminate them, or at least reduce them. The Magviila rectifier is dual voltage, which is convenient when traveling abroad. My Chi obviously isn't, it's a few years old and Chi may have changed that feature, but it's nice to have a straightener that's easy to travel with. Overall, this is a good hair straightener and I recommend it as a relatively inexpensive option. This should work for most hair.
