I won't lie. I didn't let my kids wear makeup until they were teenagers. This Petite 'n Pretty set looks more like a child's toy, but the makeup is pretty much 'real'. In fact, I wear mascara regularly myself. This wand is smaller than average and can fit quite snugly in a teenage or teenage hand, but is pediatrician approved. Sometimes I need something that really doesn't irritate my eyes, and this mascara doesn't do it. Other makeup products have soft pastels that fade quickly but require a decent brush to apply. There is a certain shine to the colors that the younger set will enjoy. I have mixed feelings about gifting a makeup kit to very young children, but as a makeup kit for younger teens it probably won't come as too much of a surprise. I'm glad that today there are safer cosmetics for everyone and companies have decided to pay more attention to toxic ingredients. Let's hope kids don't put incredibly toxic substances on their young skin too soon.
