Review on LG AN WF100 Wi Fi USB Adaptor by Phillip Hoover

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works perfectly! Setup isn't too difficult.

Based on some negative reviews I was skeptical and expected the worst. second. Mine fits perfectly and the OSD setup menu pops up on your TV right away. You must know all wireless network settings (IP address and WEP password). If you don't know it, your ISP can tell you what it is in minutes. The OSD menu is fairly basic, but not perfect. If you mess up the entrance, which I've done multiple times, you're basically forced to remove the adapter, reinsert it, and start over. It's a minor issue, but by no means a deal breaker - it took me about 20 minutes to get it working. If I' didn't forget to change my encryption password, I guess it could be installed in 10 minutes or even less. When you start wireless communication, the adapter will prompt you to download the latest software. This part is very slow. The software has several updates that appear to be dependent on each other. For example, once you download "Update 2.3.X," you'll be prompted to download "Update 3.7.X," and then one or two more. This is the longest part. I think I had to wait almost an hour for all the updates to download. Some updates have expired and had to be reloaded. Again, it's not perfect, but it's not terrible either. I agree with many other reviewers, that LG should equip this with your TV. They advertise it as "wireless" and it's a shock when you have to buy a separate adapter. I bought my adapter from Revain for $37.28 and the retail price softened it up a bit. I just noticed it's up to $43.80 right now. Unlike some other browsers, I have no issues with signal strength and watching Netflix content is a breeze. My TV is about 40 feet from my router (which is in a different room). So far it works great. I gave it one star because there should be a reset screen/setting in settings and it shouldn't take long to download software updates.
