Review on 🌊 Enhance Your Water Quality with the Whirlpool WHAROS5 Reverse Osmosis Filter by Michelle Dreger

stopped working after 2 months, hot tub support is terrible

I installed this unit and used it for about 2 months before it completely stopped producing filtered water. The feed side is only 14ppm and the only other troubleshooting step in the manual is to replace the filters ($70). To make it even more annoying, Whirlpool customer service does not deal with reverse osmosis units, but instead has another department with limited availability and no public email phone number (that I can find). I'll just box it up and send it back if it worked properly there wouldn't be a problem with the device but it isn't. My pre-filter was removed after 2 months of operation. Whirlpool didn't offer to replace the cartridge that failed so early, so it's worth $50 to try again. Even with very low TDS on the supply side, they blame the water source. Of course there is some construction going on in the area, but I would notice sudden releases of silt or mud into the water, presumably due to it clogging in such a short time. It feels like they don't care how well it works, it's just a way of trapping you in the filter ecosystem. Buy something else, any other brand. Please. Edit 2: 3 months after purchase. Since it was impossible to return, I gritted my teeth and bought replacement pre-filters for $38 for a 2-pack and it took several weeks to get back in stock. I replaced it and it works better than the factory, but I also took the extra step of installing a whole house carbon filter just before the reverse osmosis system. That's $6 for about 3 million carbon filters (because they're not trying to bend you down) and maybe another $20-$25 for the canister filter housing and some fittings, compared to another $19 (each) around one to risk more. or something else. the excuse they used to explain the premature failure of the water pipes, which literally only have to be filtered because of the lead pipes. So if, like me, you're stuck with this piece of crap, do yourself a favor and install a much cheaper in-line filter immediately. before. And if you're lucky you haven't bought this device yet, please explore the alternatives, especially considering the price of the consumables (and waste water collection, if that's your thing).
